The saying ‘how long is a piece of string’ is definitely true when it comes to estimating the cost of web design. The price will depend on the type of website you want, the extra features that are needed, the complexity of the template design and finally the number of pages required. It is not an exact science, but a good web design company will have a table of prices that they work to and will be able to give you a rough idea of the cost involved once you have answered a few questions. Please bear in mind that the price you receive will be an estimate and the actual price you pay could be more or less depending on time factors or unseen problems. However they should keep you informed of this and if the price goes above what they have quoted they should let you know and ask how you want to proceed.
It is certainly important to get a few quotes before you decide on a company to go with. After you have chosen the company or companies you are thinking of using, ask them for a quote and then consider if the website you want is worth the price they are asking. If you have researched the web design companies beforehand, you have a good idea of the quality of website they produce. By getting a quote you can compare the finished product to the price, and then compare that with the other companies. You should be able to draw a conclusion on the best option for your money.
Please be aware that money doesn’t always buy quality. If a company are working at a high hourly rate their work will cost more, and it may not be any better than a company working at a lower hourly rate. Web design is something that can be priced quite high, but that should only be for something that is technically advanced and involves a large amount of programming skills. For a simple good quality website, something that a competent web design company can easily produce, the price does not need to be so high.
